HISTORY
Our origins:
Our story begins in 1996 as a commercial agent for Terpel de la Sabana (now Terpel) at El Dorado Airport. At that time, the Colombian aviation fuel market was dominated by foreign companies, and Terpel sought an ideal ally whose knowledge of the airport would allow it to explore the aviation fuel market.
Our brand:
Globe Air Fuel was officially established in 1998 as an independent business from Globe Air Cargo to separate the fuel and air cargo business.
Guaymaral Airport:
We agreed with AeroLeaver to operate their fuel station and subsequently began selling JET A1 and AV GAS to the public. Initially, fuel was only sold through “pits” while we prepared the first refuelers (fuel tankers for aircraft).
Our second sales point:
We acquired and adapted Aeroandes’ AV GAS fuel storage facilities and later certified the plant as an Aviation Service Station.
Industrial trader:
We were recognized by the Ministry of Mines and Energy as an Industrial Trader, a permit we maintain to transport aviation fuel (AV GAS and JET A1) throughout Colombia.
Transport company:
To have greater control over our supply chain and ensure fuel traceability, we founded our own transport company, named Hidrotrans.
Adventure in the Eastern Plains:
We were founding partners of Aviacom, a company that supplied fuel to the Villavicencio and San José del Guaviare Airports. A few years down the line, Terpel took ownership of these Service Stations. However, today we are leaders in supplying fuel for agricultural aviation in the Casanare department.
Land acquisition:
We acquired a property at Guaymaral Airport, which currently functions as a logistics center and warehouse for oils and lubricants.
Venturing in Mariquita:
With the inauguration of our third Aviation Service Station, we became the first company to offer aviation fuels at Mariquita Airport. In addition to contributing to regional development, we have consolidated as an ally for general, agricultural, and military aviation in the Department of Tolima.
Broadening Horizons in Guaymaral:
We expanded the storage capacity at our fuel plant at Guaymaral Airport. Our modern plant uses solar energy for its operation and has a recycling and waste area for our use and that of our customers.
Internationalization:
We established our first commercial alliance abroad for aviation fuel sales at major airports in Panama.
Innovation and Development:
On the eve of our 25th anniversary, we outlined our organization’s roadmap to 2030. The plan includes leveraging various technological tools to facilitate interaction between our customers and partners with GAF.
