In Guandita trail, bordering the eastern mountains of Guatavita municipality, lies the Vista Hermosa Natural Reserve and the Guatanfur Páramo. There, “Los Güechas” Natural Reserve was established in 2021 as a project born out of love and responsibility for the environment.

In this high Andean forest, located between 2,900 and 3,000 meters above sea level, also known as a subpáramo, you will find a 10-hectare area. Seven of these hectares were previously used for cattle ranching and potato farming, and it is here that we started our reforestation and environmental restoration project.

With our restoration and reforestation program, in collaboration with the municipality of Guatavita, the government of Cundinamarca, and CAR, we planted more than 5,000 trees across 5 of the 10 hectares of the reserve, which now grow surrounded by a natural environment.

Los Güechas were the Muisca Indians, brave, proud, haughty and caretakers of entrances to the savannah, whose name over time degenerated into the pejorative term of the “guaches”, as they were difficult to control people who opposed the domination of the conquerors.

Our plant in
Guaymaral is powered by solar panels

In 2020, we began our transition to clean energy, taking advantage of sunlight as an electrical source that is required for the night operations of our plant and laboratory, thus fulfilling our high commitment to the environment and global warming. Our goal is to implement this sustainable energy transition throughout our national operation.
